Art is my one great love. And just like with paralyzing infatuation, I have no choice but to surrender and try to understand. Expressing and shaping what speaks to me so strongly. With a voice that drowns out all others. Today I live in the countryside in southern Sweden. And I have found my safe embrace in the nature around me. It gives me inspiration, comfort and insight. The solid security I have been looking for and tried to provide. The nature and climate in Sweden can be very harsh, with cold, wind-whipped rain and snow. Tough love indeed. Yet the persistent and undeniable in nature is what gives strength and calm. All this is the basis of my creation. The fragile and searching thread of life and the endless longing. I paint layer upon layer in the dark, searching for the light in the picture. Probably living close to the barren nature and the Nordic darkness affects my creation more than I understand. We often talk about the Nordic light, but here there is also an enormous darkness to take care of. The cold tones of nature and at the same time the promising little seed's hope for the light that returns every spring after a long, cold winter. For me, the answers lie in the original in nature, far from the expectations of this time. It is so much closer than we think. What is visible in my pictures is my own search for a place where the beauty of the darkness has meaning. An answer."
Frida Manuella Hauge is a Swedish artist, born 1975. With four years in art school 1999-2003 in Gothenburg, Sweden. She has participated in a number of exhibitions, both group and single, in the last twenty years. Today working as a full time artist. On the countryside in southern Sweden.
